Gabriel Midón Group

Double bassist and composer Gabriel Midon hosted the 38Riv jam session for several years, establishing himself as a prominent figure on both the Parisian and international jazz scenes.

An eclectic sideman, he has performed alongside Julien Alour, Rick Margitza, Baptiste Herbin, Philippe Baden Powell, Denise King… He also leads several projects such as Big Fish, Dancing Bird, and King of Panda.

After Imaginary Stories—a distinctive debut album bringing together a string quartet and jazz ensemble around vocalist Ellinoa—Gabriel now returns to a more compact format: the quartet.

With new compositions like Fitness Club, La Crampe, and Pluie Fixe, he continues to deliver strong melodies, fueled by a dreamlike and cinematic imagination.

Surrounded by Pierre Bernier (saxophone), Simon Chivallon (piano), and Guilhem Flouzat (drums), he achieves a rare alchemy: each musician elevates the musical playground with their keen sense of improvisation.

Pierre Bernier and Gabriel have shared the stage and the road for several years, alongside musicians such as Antoine Karacostas, Samuel Tessier, Sylvain Ransy, and Simon Martineau — they’ve just returned from their fourth tour in Japan.

Gabriel and Simon Chivallon have known each other for over ten years, performing together across Parisian stages with a deep musical connection.

As for Guilhem Flouzat, recently back in Paris after several years in New York, he quickly found a natural musical balance with Gabriel: their double bass–drums tandem operates perfectly, in a dynamic and playful exchange — like a game of ping-pong.
