#Résidence Magic Malik Quartet Xp

A flautist with wildly unique ideas, Magic Malik has been forging a unique path for over twenty years, between shifting grooves, unexpected harmonies, and sonic explorations. With his Quartet XP—XP for Experience, of course—he continues to explore a music of freedom, which began with his Orchestra, continued with the Fanfare XP, and is nourished by beautiful collaborations in today's jazz.
Trained at the Marseille Conservatory, Malik enjoys breaking boundaries: he writes, improvises, layers rhythms, and twists sounds. His flute speaks, sings, blows, and sometimes shouts. A lively, vibrant style that makes him a musician apart, whom Télérama calls "the best flautist in French jazz."
At his side are three free spirits: Maïlys Maronne on piano, Jean-Luc Lehr on bass, and Vincent Sauve on drums. Together, they create music that reaches a human level: demanding, generous, and full of energy.
In 2024, Malik also released Jazz Association: Le Baiser Salé Live, an album captured live in the Parisian club. An incandescent record, between rhythmic tension and unfettered improvisations, acclaimed for its freshness and freedom.
And for the 2025-2026 season, the quartet will be taking up residency at Baiser Salé twice a month. A regular rendezvous with music in motion, searching, transforming, and sharing in the moment. Like a breath we follow with our eyes closed.
