September 13, 2025 at 5pm and 8:30pm ESPACE CULTUREL SIMONE VEIL Epinay-sur-Orge We, our trio of New Yorker Napua Davoy - vocalist/pianist/composer, and from France Mathieu Denis on bass and Loïc Maurin on drums, have recently recorded an album called CONFIRMATION (as in Charlie Parker!). It features songs in French, English and Brazilian from Paul Simon, Léo Ferré, Claude Nougaro and Ivan Lins. We will be joined with Jean-Luc Denis on trumpet and Michel Alloude on alto sax to invoke Chet Baker and Phil Woods in this grand array of music without borders. Ms.Davoy also writes for musical theatre thus the concert possesses a dramatic influence not commonly seen in American Jazz. Ms.Davoy is an activist as well as a jazz pianist singer. The tunes addressing the events of our current times will be accompanied by projected visual works by Hervé Bourdin and Valerio Fascíaní. And there will be refreshments served along with an exhibition of paintings by Murielle Perrin which were inspired when she heard CONFIRMATION after the performances. The Simon Veil Theatre at the Cultural Space in Epinay-sur-Orge ( accessable by the RER C and T12) is on the town square 14 Cours du Général de Gualle and this is the maiden voyage concert of this beautiful, new cultural center. I am thrilled to become a part of the musical culture and enchanting, deep, historical life of France and rejoice to be able to live here part-time thanks to my newly procured titre de sejour. I leave you with these words from the lyric I wrote for Charlie Parker's CONFIRMATION, "The Groove behooves you, the Groove improves you, and don't you be afraid because of moonlight and of Stardust - YOU are made! Carl Sagan & Napua Davoy. We hope you can make it!
