François Poitou's quintet presents its new album, Old Folks, released in 2025 on Yovo Music/Inouïe. After two critically acclaimed albums, François Poitou returns with the same lineup and the “chamber jazz” style that made him famous. This new repertoire, more folk-oriented and brighter, includes a few covers (Jim Croce, Simon and Garfunkel). Over the years (since 2016), this group has created a unique sound and universe, with François Poitou's compositions enhanced by the virtuosity of his fellow musicians.
“At a time when it has never been easier to ‘make a record,’ François Poitou has had the wisdom to offer a real story, in eleven chapters, all finely crafted, all linked by a secret chain and focused on the main purpose of music: to evoke emotion rather than attempt to describe it.” Bruno Guermonprez, journalist
Aude Marie Duperret: viola
Robby Marshal: soprano saxophone, bass clarinet
Misja Fitzgerald Michel: guitar
François Poitou: double bass
