For the second year running, double bassist Jean-Claude Ghrenassia presents his Casbah Band as part of the Confluences festival dedicated to Jewish cultures in the Maghreb and the Mediterranean. This year, he invites French-American singer Stephy Haik, who gave a memorable concert in December 2024 as part of the ECUJE jazz series. This unique concert by the Casbah Band, led by Jean-Claude Ghrenassia, revisits the great standards of North African music, particularly chaabi, through the universal language of jazz.

Jean-Claude Ghrenassia's Casbah Band will reinterpret the works of iconic figures such as Maurice El Medioni, Lili Labassi, Lili Boniche, and Cheikh Raymond Leyris. These artists left their mark on the Judeo-Arab music scene of the 20th century, and this ambitious project draws inspiration from their legacy to reinvent it in a dialogue between Mediterranean traditions and jazz rhythms.

Confluences, a festival dedicated to dialogue and cultural diversity:

The Confluences Festival is a flagship initiative of the ECUJE. It focuses on bringing together the musical, literary, and artistic traditions of the Mediterranean basin and highlights the cultural diversity of Jewish identities within Mediterranean cultures. This concert, revisiting classics of Andalusian chaabi music through a jazz lens, perfectly embodies the spirit of the festival: exploring bridges between cultures and opening up new artistic horizons.

Don't miss this exceptional evening, which will bring together the richness of North African music and the modernity of jazz. A musical journey that will transport you from the shores of the Mediterranean to the contemporary stages of Paris.

Book your tickets now for this unique concert and experience an intense moment of musical sharing at the ECUJE.
