“Les Romantiques” is the new project from pianist and composer Yonathan Avishai.
Accompanied by the highly sought-after Christophe Panzani (saxophones) and Pierre Perchaud (guitar), Yonathan reveals a certain romantic side to his musical universe.
This chamber music of the heart (without a rhythm section) highlights the lyricism of a simple melody and the gentle movement of a dance, all in the service of deep and sincere emotions.
A sought-after pianist on the international jazz scene and regular companion of trumpeter Avishai Cohen, Yonathan Avishai has made delicacy his trademark. The most French of Israeli virtuosos, he is a true storyteller who could be said to write the silences and liberate the melody.
After several albums released on ECM Records as a trio and alongside Avishai Cohen, Yonathan now presents “Shapes and Sounds,” a new opus from his Parisian trio released on the Jazz&People label.
Since its release in October, the album has received an extremely warm welcome from the French and international press (TTT Télérama, Choc sur Jazz Magazine).
Whether in concert, in theatrical experiences, or in an educational setting, this unique musician with an atypical career path communicates his passion for sound, music, and its history.
“Listening to his music is like returning to the beating heart, to the imagination that dreams.” Télérama
About his previous trio album:
“One of the most poetic pianists of his generation returns with his trio for an album of incredible delicacy.” TSF JAZZ
“The pianist-storyteller-poet continues to explore the art of shaping sound into musical narrative with his trio, creating a masterpiece that will go down in history.” Jazz Magazine – “Album CHOC”
