The singer from Indianapolis is a remarkable performer, with her bluesy voice, playful diction, and musical imagination. Inspired by both the blues and gospel, and a superb connoisseur of jazz standards and Duke Ellington’s music, she plays in a variety of styles alongside Archie Shepp, Dany Doriz, John Betsch, Ted Curson, or Tom McClung, and has even appeared in two films by Cédric Klapisch — always with remarkable intensity.
Sylvia Howard (vocals), Jean-Jacques Taib (tenor sax, clarinet), Philippe Petit (organ), Sylvain Glévarec (drums)
