After nearly fifteen years together, five repertoires, and five albums, the Courtois/Erdmann/Fincker trio decided to combine their shared experience, obvious chemistry, and unique sound with their memories of West Coast jazz. Whether driven by a simple desire to explore, a need to pay tribute, an exorcism of old demons, or a need to get ever closer to unfulfilled loves, the trio continues to dig deep, working as one musician to forge a language all their own.
This new repertoire, entitled “Lines For Lions,” gives a nod to the “cool” movement and its contribution to the history of jazz.
The concert at 38Riv will be an opportunity to celebrate the release of the album “Lines For Lions” on the La Buisssonne label.
"This trio sounds beautiful, on edge... It refreshes clichés, overturns them, turns sepia into a rainbow... The audience is left in suspense." Alain Gauthier, Culture Jazz
“This music is, from the moment it emerges, a total success.” Xavier Prévost, Jazz Magazine
Daniel Erdmann: tenor saxophone
Robin Fincker: tenor saxophone, clarinet
