Caloé sings and composes, writing lyrics and music, making vocal improvisation her playground and one of her strengths, whether in her interpretation of the melodies she revisits or in her use of scat, which she masters like an instrumentalist.
Her generous stage presence, soft tone, and vocal technique make Caloé one of the most active singers on the French jazz scene.
For this cabaret, Caloé explores the poetry of jazz, the poetry in jazz, dissects lyrics, and talks about the music of syllables and allegories. Two disciplines so closely linked, but rarely explored side by side, come together for this unique concert.
Velours, velours — A kind of cabaret
Every Saturday afternoon, the 38Riv is transformed into a piano bar in Havana, a cozy club in Harlem, or a forgotten Broadway stage. This is not just a concert: it's a lively and theatrical immersion into the golden age of jazz and musical theater.
Imagine a vibrant tribute to the voices of Billie Holiday, Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong. A timeless interlude, between the pages of a Fitzgerald novel and the backstage of a New York cabaret, where people sing, tell stories, play, and laugh.
“Velours, velours” is the elegance of a bygone era, the warmth of a shared moment, and the emotion of a story told through music.
