Triofola
French-Senegalese singer Founé Sow grew up surrounded by the music of the Sahel. The daughter of a musician, she began dancing and singing to the rhythm of percussion instruments at family ceremonies at a very early age.
The power of her voice and her captivating presence perpetuate the Mandinka culture of West Africa.
Founé accompanies herself on the kora.
Violinist Catherine Masson brings delicacy to her melodies with the warm, deep sound of her 5-string violin. Her style has been enriched by her travels and encounters, from the Slavic music of Eastern Europe to Mediterranean and African music.
Burkinabe guitarist Abdoulaye Traoré, founder of the group Debademba, is a virtuoso who charms and captivates with his unique groove and riffs.
Triofola is the fusion of these three identities: it is first and foremost a story of friendship, then a desire to bring the music of the Mandinka tradition to life.
The trio presents a few traditional pieces and compositions in which each instrument finds its place and each musician brings their own color.
Triofola's concerts are journeys that invite dance and improvisation.
