Tribute to Doobie Powell, singer-songwriter and band leader, highly influential and respected in the American neo-gospel scene.
Exposed to music from an early age by his musician and pastor parents, whether through different instruments (drums, piano, organ, vocals, bass, etc.) or different musical styles (jazz, soul, funk, fusion, gospel, etc.), his compositions clearly reflect this eclecticism and convey rich emotions.
Concerned about his integrity in the professional music world, he asserts his independence from the industry's “majors.” As a result, the vast majority of his albums have been self-produced and released by himself, notably on his Bandcamp page.
A live and session musician, he has worked with numerous artists, including Musiq Soulchild, Robert Glasper, the Clark Sisters, Kelly Price, and Tramaine Hawkins.
