A new project from singer-songwriter Charlotte Wassy, Libra offers urban jazz in all its richness and modernity. Jazz improvisation flirts with soul and R&B grooves, creating a fusion that is as sophisticated as it is sensitive.
Born in Paris into a family of artists, Charlotte Wassy has been singing, composing, writing, and dancing since she was a child. Rocked by multiple influences and inspired by the musical world of her father, Cameroonian drummer and composer Brice Wassy, she developed a rich and diverse artistic expression at an early age. After training in dance at the James Carlès school in Toulouse and an introduction to vocals marked by jazz, she founded her quintet in 2010, with which she won several awards and recorded her first albums.
Exploring the bridges between jazz, soul, and African music, Charlotte has established herself as a unique and committed voice on the contemporary jazz scene. An inventive composer and performer, she has been involved in numerous artistic projects, notably in a duo with double bassist Felipe Cabrera. Her latest album, Cadence, was released in 2024 on Quai Son Records/PIAS.
