Mikkel Ploug 4Et Feat. Mark Turner

For almost twenty years now, Danish guitarist Mikkel Ploug and American tenor saxophonist Mark Turner have nurtured a fruitful and stimulating transatlantic artistic complicity. In this elegant, organic quartet, they develop a music that is both lyrical and abstract, bringing out tender melodies with assertive pop/folk harmonies, and intense atmospheric, floating and ethereal sequences. Taking a few detours into the repertoire of great classical and contemporary composers such as Carl Nielsen, Bent Sørensen and Valentin Silvestrov, Mikkel Ploug delightfully blurs the boundaries between improvisation and composition, the better to explore the great poetic spaces of contemporary Scandinavian jazz.
