| Compositions, modern jazz, New York guest
The name of saxophonist Caroline Davis's (New York) and pianist Rob Clearfield's (Chicago/Marseille) project comes from Ingmar Bergman's groundbreaking film title, "Persona." The underlying story of the film raises the question of whether there are two distinct characters or one, with two personalities. Or perhaps these two characters share a common consciousness. The sound of "Persona" is the result of the fusion of Davis and Clearfield's unique musical identities, and their evolution focuses on pieces that have a strong personal dimension, whether it be declarative melodies with urgent lyricism or innovative cyclical rhythmic concepts.
