Lukmil Perez Colectivo ‘Airotele Ona’

After touring the world as a sideman and collaborating with some of the biggest names in jazz, Lukmil Perez now takes center stage as leader of a high-flying trio alongside saxophonist Irving Acao and double bassist Felipe Cabrera.

For one evening, he celebrates Cuba, his beloved island, through a repertoire as eclectic and rich as its cultural history, blending Afro-Cuban music and jazz. The drummer tells the story of his ancestors and their encounters through music, translated into Yoruba as “Airotele Ona,” the title of his first album as a leader.
