Geri Allen is one of the leading jazz pianists. A prolific and versatile artist rooted in gospel, she also took part in the creation of the new M-Base style with Steve Coleman in the 1980s, and explored free jazz with saxophonist Ornette Coleman. She shines among the musical inspirations of pianist and composer Leïla Olivesi, who dedicated one of her tracks to her in the album Suite Andamane. Leading a high-flying quartet, the winner of the Django Reinhardt Prize takes us on a journey through a vibrant and inspiring music!
A concert initiated and realized in partnership with Fragments.
Fragments is an association committed to gender equality in the arts and culture. It fights against discrimination and supports artistic creation, mainly by women. Its flagship project, "Women of Jazz, another history of jazz," highlights the overlooked contributions of women in jazz history. Through traveling exhibitions and cultural activities, it is aimed at all audiences. Fragments also develops research resources, mediation actions, and artistic support mechanisms. The association works towards a more inclusive, accessible, and representative culture. asso-fragments.com
