Translated text:
Considered by Jazz Wise as "a brilliant improviser," guitarist Romain Pilon has gained international recognition through his albums. He has toured as a leader in many countries around the world and has played and recorded with, among others: Brian Blade, Ben Wendel, Jeff Ballard, Seamus Blake, Walter Smith III, Baptiste Trotignon, Sam Yahel, and Linda May Han Oh...
He is back at the Sunset to present his newest album and most personal project to date: "Open Roads."
For this, he invites exceptional musicians like vibraphonist Alexis Valet and trumpeter Raynald Colom around a resolutely modern rhythm section with Fred Pasqua and Gabriel Sauzay.
Through poetic writing, playing with textures and atmospheres, the quintet's music draws from multiple influences: from Led Zeppelin to Wayne Shorter, through Miles Davis and Eric Satie. A beautiful evening in perspective.
"A guitarist with wonderful originality." France Musique
"Pilon glides through the music with a superb sense of confidence..." Jazz Times (USA)
"A wonder of taste and style" Jazz Podium (Germany)
"Pilon is World Class" Financial Times (UK)
Raynald Colom: trumpet
Alexis Valet: vibraphone
Gabriel Sauzay: double bass
