“Biometrics has been around for a very long time. Around 500 B.C., fingerprints were used as a means of authentication for Babylonian commercial transactions recorded on clay tablets. In the late 19th century, contracts were signed in India for road construction. Shortly thereafter, a French police officer (A. Bertillon) used biometrics to identify and classify criminals. Today, we’re seeing an explosion of this technology in smartphones, payment cards, and at airports.
Why am I telling you this? To pass the time while learning something new…
Music? What are we going to play? Oh, right, okay.
Like biometrics, we’ll look at each other, listen to each other, and touch each other through rhythms and sounds. Indeed, my bandmates and I can “recognize” each other—and do so using only… our hearing. The tools will be modern, such as hip-hop, jungle, techno, and cybernetic samples. A few themes will come together to tie it all together. And I’m counting on the constant creativity of the incredible musicians who will be on stage, as fast as an electronic circuit! Bzzz!
Come listen to “BiOmeTriX,” close your eyes, and hope that the sound-based biometric recognition works and reassures us…”
