As part of the festival: Festival Jazz à Saint-Germain-des-Prés Paris

The Jazz à Saint-Germain-des-Prés Paris Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary from May 11 to 24, presenting unique concerts in exceptional venues. For this special occasion, a 19-piece Big Band led by Pierre Bertrand comes together for an unprecedented anniversary celebration.

The European Jazz Companions is a one-of-a-kind large orchestra, founded in 2021 by saxophonist and composer Pierre Bertrand (Victoires du Jazz 2005 and 2017). It brings together young European talents from the finest conservatories, among the most promising on the jazz scene. Guided by top European soloists, these musicians live a collective artistic experience of excellence, based on sharing, mentorship, and collaboration, a human adventure felt in the incredible energy the orchestra brings to every performance.

For the past five years, the big band has toured major European festivals such as the Classical Beat Festival in Lübeck, Nuejazz in Nuremberg, and Marseille Jazz des Cinq Continents.

On Saturday, May 23, these 20 musicians will converge from across Europe to bring to life an exceptional event in Paris: a Grand Swing Ball, performed live by this extraordinary orchestra!

Under the passionate direction of Pierre Bertrand, the European Jazz Companions will revive the irresistible energy of the legendary post-war swing dance nights, brought to life by iconic big bands.

Set in the sumptuous Réfectoire des Cordeliers, with its vast 50-meter parquet floor and centuries-old wooden arches, transformed for the evening into a hybrid concert hall and ballroom, you can listen, dance, and refresh yourself, all carried along by the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, and many surprises.

A festive, generous, and jubilant evening, where swing regains all its collective and popular power.
