Fascinated by the discovery of music linked to Spanish popular tradition (notably Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez) and by certain expressions of the country's cultural heritage (such as flamenco or religious processions), trumpet player Miles Davis offered his intense and poetic vision of it in "Sketches of Spain," a masterpiece marking the opening of jazz to world music. An emancipated disciple of his glorious predecessor, Erik Truffaz has become one of the main figures of electro-jazz trumpet whose creativity has never waned. His encounter with flamenco saxophonist and singer Antonio Lizana, a true phenomenon that French audiences have been able to appreciate in recent years, was destined to be sealed by an ambitious project: to propose their contemporary vision of these "Sketches of Spain" whose genius has endured through the decades.

A major event on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Miles Davis, this prince of darkness who found the light in the land of Cervantes and Garcia Lorca. François Lacharme
