Yumiko Yamashita Medium Ensemble

Based between Kyoto and Paris, Japanese composer and bass clarinetist Yumiko Yamashita has created a world all her own. She presents her “Medium Ensemble”—two bass clarinets, vocals, and a rhythm section—to introduce us to the tracks from her debut album, Le Quotidien.

Her compositions draw inspiration from the small moments of everyday life: understated lyricism, subtle grooves, and a focus on nuances and silences. Intimate poetry, crafted in a contemporary style.
