2026 marks the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis’s birth. It’s hard not to take a moment to reflect.

Darius and Gaspard Moglia pay tribute to the man who was, for them, a decisive influence, joined for the occasion by two leading figures of the French jazz scene: double bassist Gabriel Sauzay and drummer Pierre Eden Guilbaud.

Miles Davis traversed the world of jazz like no other, from bebop to modal jazz, from cool jazz to jazz-rock, constantly reinventing his musical language and drawing the greatest musicians in his wake each time. Tonight’s focus is on the era of the two quintets: those legendary ensembles where Shorter, Hancock, and their collaborators together invented a new way of inhabiting the music: tense, intuitive, always in motion.

A 45-minute concert, dense and intense... then the stage opens up! The jam session takes over, in the spirit that has made the festival’s reputation: encounters, daring, and the night truly begins.
