When he first discovered Réunion and its culture more than ten years ago, saxophonist Gaël Horellou fell in love with maloya. A versatile musician, he made his mark on the local scene and immersed himself completely in maloya, driven by a desire to build bridges between jazz and the traditions of the Indian Ocean.
Accompanied by his Réunionese “dalons” (comrades), he invites listeners to an ode to cultural fusion: bluesy languor, Creole songs, festive percussion, and trance-like rhythms are the hallmarks of Koulèr Fitir, their fourth album.
An intense and poetic musical journey.
