In 1975, Keith Jarrett took to the stage in Cologne with no set programme, and almost no piano, and improvised a concert that would go on to become legendary. With *Köln Variations*, Édouard Ferlet takes this moment as his starting point. Not to reproduce it, but to explore it. Drawing on the motifs, structures and spirit of the Köln Concert, he composes and improvises new variations. Some echo the original, others stray far from it. It all unfolds in this back-and-forth between memory and invention.
