A genius of improvisation and a tireless explorer of new musical paths, Sonny Rollins remains one of the most influential tenor saxophonists in the history of jazz.

In 1955, he joined Max Roach’s quintet, a seminal group that contributed to the emergence of hard bop. The following year, he devoted himself primarily to his own projects and released one of his masterpieces, *Saxophone Colossus*, which became an essential album in the history of jazz. In 1957, he broke new ground again by recording several tracks as a piano-less trio, a bold formula that would become one of his hallmarks.

Since his passing on May 25, 2026, at the age of 95, Sonny Rollins’s work continues to resonate with undiminished power, bearing witness to his ceaseless creativity and unique freedom of expression.

To pay tribute to him, some of the most brilliant figures of the Parisian jazz scene are coming together for an exceptional quartet performance to celebrate the memory and work of this true giant of jazz.

Neil Saidi / saxophone
Noé Codjia / trumpet
Kim Baiunco / double bass
David Paycha / drums
