Elisa Lécuyer celebrates the music and journey of Anita O'Day this time, a free and rebellious figure of vocal jazz, revealed in the swing era and becoming one of the great voices of bebop.

An unclassifiable artist, she disrupted the codes of the big band singer by turning her voice into a true instrument: incisive phrasing, formidable sense of rhythm, a taste for risk and improvisation, she sang like one plays jazz. Rejecting artifice, favoring pulse over vibrato, she inscribes herself in a lineage where the voice converses on equal terms with the musicians. Anita O'Day thus emerges as a major figure, at the crossroads of swing and bop, whose influence still resonates today.

The French-Venezuelan singer Elisa Lécuyer thrives as a storyteller of melodies. Once a month, at 38Riv, she puts on her academic attire to delve into the work of one of her favorite artists. Between concert and lecture, she unfurls stories and songs with the same eager and inspired momentum. She uses her impetuous energy and eloquent vulnerability to express her musicality, always in service of the lyrics of the songs she interprets.
