Sara Miette Raconte Le Choro

Emerging at the end of the 19th century, Choro mixes lively Afro-Brazilian rhythms with virtuoso melodies influenced by traditional European music (polka, waltz, Scottish...). Typically played in a "roda," Choro literally means "cry," "lamentation," which is reflected in the joyful saudade inherent in these melodies, as seen in the legendary piece "Carinhoso."
