Born in Suriname and raised in the Netherlands, singer, storyteller, and director Shjazz creates performances that blend jazz, personal narratives, and human connections. Her musical journey has been shaped by the voices of Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, and Dinah Washington, whose emotional depth and phrasing continue to inspire her unique approach to jazz. Over the years, Shjazz has shared the stage with internationally renowned musicians, including Joseph Bowie (Defunkt), Franck Amsallem, David Sauzay, Laurent Marode, Bas van Lier, Michael Fazio, Tico Pierhagen, Efraïm Trujillo, the Holland Big Band, and many others. Her latest project, *Mirror: R.E.D. (Reason to Exhale Differently)*, continues her exploration of identity, resilience, and the stories that shape us.
