He began playing music at age 9 on the recorder. He soon turned to the guitar and enjoyed transcribing guitar solos from rock bands. At age 13, he joined his first band and got his start on the live scene by performing at various youth centers.
At age 15, he studied classical music at the conservatory before turning to jazz. He took his first steps in the professional world by accompanying singers and orchestras. In 1989, he won first prize in classical guitar at the Frozzinone competition in Italy. In 1991, he won first prize in the Franck Gambale competition, which gave him the opportunity to play with the fusion guitarist. In 1999, he won first prize at the Tremplin Jazz competition in Vannes (with the Jazz Up trio). In 2003, he won first prize at the Django Reinhardt competition in Samois. He accompanies various groups across a range of musical styles—rock, pop, and jazz—as a guitarist and bassist, both on stage and in the studio.
