At the intersection of jazz, soul, and blues.
A demanding musician with a strong personality, she came up through gospel music and performed with Lionel Hampton’s orchestra in the 1940s.
Her repertoire lies at the crossroads of jazz, blues, and rhythm & blues, with numerous hits in the 1950s and 1960s, notably her recordings for Mercury Records.
Having made a name for herself in Europe’s top clubs and festivals, Marion Chrétien rose to prominence as a member of the famous Glossy Sisters and Shades Vocal Band, with whom she has performed more than 500 concerts over the past 10 years in France and abroad.
Today, she stands out as one of the most distinctive voices on the French jazz scene.
She has performed on some of the most prestigious stages: Jazz à Vienne, Crest Jazz Vocal (Jury and Audience Awards), La Nuit Jazz Magazine at the Trianon, the Tahiti Jazz Festival alongside Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Tanjazz in Tangier.
