Lown Trio

With their effervescent and melodic contemporary jazz, the LOWN TRIO transports us to an imaginary realm steeped in the colours of the East: fluid melodies and sharp rhythms, somewhere between the East, the Balkans and Latin America. The trio unfolds these contrasts with poetic and exhilarating verve.

A breath of fresh air across the steppes of Central Asia, the sound of percussion in the bustling streets of Caracas, or a flight over the blue domes of Samarkand’s mosques. These are just some of the impressions gathered during the travels of pianist-composer Alexis Bajot-Nercessian, which breathe life into the trio’s compositions.

With a compositional world beautifully underpinned by the contributions of drummer Pierre Demange – also a subtle duduk player – and Hugo Rivière’s sophisticated double bass playing, the trio offers the listener moments imbued with poetry, infectious energy and sensory surprises.
