Trumpet and Fender Rhodes: two sounds that seek each other out, find each other, and amplify one another. Hermon Mehari, an American trumpeter based in Paris, and Tony Tixier, a pianist of Martinican descent who grew up immersed in the roots of African-American jazz in New York, join forces for an intimate musical dialogue.
Their repertoire draws on forgotten or little-known works by musicians of African descent—from Harlem to Martinique—including rare compositions and pieces never recorded in a studio, to create a personal program with political resonance. Their music serves as a natural echo of Martin Luther King’s work: the conviction that the pursuit of beauty, too, can be a form of commitment and an expression of brotherhood.
