Located in the heart of the Quatre-Chemins district in Pantin, just steps away from the metro, RER, ring road, and national highway, La Dynamo de Banlieues Bleues is housed in a former jute bag factory. This building is a testament to the industrial heritage of the eastern suburbs of Paris and has been transformed into a venue for music production and performances.
The early 20th-century industrial aesthetic has been reimagined through contemporary architecture (Périphériques-architectes), where raw materials (plastic sheeting, metal scales, raw concrete, wood) and vibrant colors (orange, pink, gold) dominate to create a space whose modernity is rooted in tradition.
La Dynamo’s concert hall, with its prismatic shape, is a new, self-contained building clad in wood siding, located in the garden at the center of the block. This hall, the first in France built specifically for jazz and improvised music, boasts exceptional acoustic qualities and allows for multiple configurations (central/front stage, seated/standing audience). It hosts concerts as well as rehearsals, with natural light streaming in through a large window.
Around the nave, a vast industrial hall and true light well, other spaces are distributed: a pleasant garden—a rarity for a concert hall!—three rehearsal studios, "jewels within the jewel" offering musicians comfortable working conditions, and a cafeteria with its indoor-outdoor terrace.
