38Riv is a club nestled in a 13th-century vaulted cellar in the heart of the Marais district in Paris. Though an unconventional venue, it is nonetheless firmly rooted in the tradition of jazz clubs: offering a cosy atmosphere, an intimate setting, an unobstructed view of the stage, stone vaults and warm acoustics.
38Riv presents a programme focused primarily on jazz, whilst remaining open to hybrid forms. A true artistic hub, the club actively supports the French scene, whilst regularly hosting international artists, and places a central focus on emerging talent and creativity.
Founded in 2008 by Vincent Charbonnier, a former double bassist with an international career (notably as part of Jacques Loussier’s Play Bach Trio), 38Riv came into being following a stroke that cut short his career as a musician. For him, the club became a way to rediscover, every evening, the artistic emotions conveyed by the magic of live performance.
Built on this founding vision, 38Riv is now run by a team of 10 professionals. Carrying on a deeply human tradition, the team works to make the club ever more welcoming and vibrant, ensuring that every event remains a unique experience for our guests!
At 38Riv, the bar is somewhat tucked away at the back of the room… if you dare to go there! More than just a bar, it’s a space for meeting people and socialising before, during or after the concerts.
