Rymden Wesseltoft / Berglund / Öström

When two emblematic formation of European jazz, E.S.T. and New Conception of Jazz, team up to create a powerful item, the result is a trio named Rymden: pianist and composer Bugge Wesseltoft reunites with the famous Magnus Öström rhythm - Dan Berglund (partners of the late Esbjörn Svensson). Their first album “Reflections and Odysseys”, released in February 2019, associates a strong personality with an energy that is far from the meditative clichés sometimes associated with Scandinavian jazz. These restless explorers are once again testing the boundaries of existing forms while clearing new music territories. This gives way to a music with fierce dynamism, catchy tunes and a epically cinematic sound, supported by subtle electronic manipulations by Wesseltoft, between piano and Fender Rhodes, while Berglund and Öström explore almost all possible sounds made by their respective instruments.
