Xavier Thollard Trio

New signature of the label Jazz Family, the pianist Xavier Thollard returns in Trio. The originality and modernity of this trio resides both in the musical writing (development of ostinatos with dancing metrics, disguises of the standards), but also in the sound of the trio with its interactions and numerous variations, alternating the airy improvised moments with denser written parts. But the main theme of this album is above all the rhythmic motor, almost inexhaustible, put at the service of the solidity of the bass, and the sonic finesse of the cymbals. The audacious interpretation of Miles Davis' great standard "Nardis", also given to the album, well represents the bias throughout this disc: an immoderate taste for the development of almost jubilant rhythms, while remaining in a perfect sound control.
