Riccardo Del Fra has been Chet Baker's bassit for 9 years. He also played with Johnny Griffin, Bob Brookmeyer, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Barney Wilen, Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, Lee Konitz... After the sucess of his album "My Chet, My Song", Riccardo comes back with a new album of striking and penetrating compositions for which he surrounded himself with borderless improvisers. Several generations and countries are represented with this septet : American deeply inspired guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel and groovy powerful drummer Jason Brown, dashing German sax player Jan Prax, expressive and libertarian Polish trumpet player Tomasz Dabrowski and French subtle sax player Rémi Fox and creative pianist Carl-Henri Morisset. « Moving People » is a lyrical, deep, powerful and delicate album with a challenge writing and, in the same time, room for impro. It narrates the journey toward a better life, hopes and life strength. Riccardo Del Fra’s music embraces, strokes, moves. His double bass sings with lyrism, wraps with sensuality and sets the soloists on fire. Our event of the month.
