ALULA 6tet's sources of inspiration are to be found in contemporary and universal music, in territories without borders. A true multicultural and festive encounter, ALULA's universe is expressed in an original repertoire, referring both to European jazz (Jan Garbarek, John Surman, Nguyen Lê...) and to the Canterbury School (Soft Machine, Gong, Hatfield and the North, Robert Wyatt...), all enhanced with oriental colours and African flavours.

Aerial atmospheres, improvisations and grooves intermingle, always preserving a strong melodic character, carried by Swala Emati's deep, powerful and sensual voice. Passionate about the sound of languages, Swala sings, depending on the titles, in Spanish, Kikongo and English.

ALULA has recorded several albums that have been very well received by critics, and has produced more than two hundred concerts throughout France, always eliciting enthusiastic and warm reactions.
