Inspired by the energy and incandescence of 60s jazz and the impressionist sounds of early twentieth century classical music, sometimes modal, sometimes atonal, angular or circular, Musina composes a contemporary multi-faceted jazz that navigates between different atmospheres and various colors. A search for authenticity lies in the effects of contrasts and continuities suggested by compositions and collective improvisation. The melodic lines of saxophones cross, answer and blend. They weave the outline of a canvas, completed by the piano harmonies and the rhythmic structures of the bass and drums. Together, they explore different musical forms with a sense of collective play that aims a haunting narration. The music of Musina Ebobissé Quintet wants to be a sonorous tale, taking the listener on an expressive musical journey.
