As part of the festival: Jazzenville 2020

The Youpi Quartet was born from the meeting of Laurent MAUR, harmonicist, considered as one of the worthy heirs of Toots Thielemans, and Emilie CALMÉ, jazz flutist, specialist of the bansuri, the great Indian transverse flute. They have been travelling the world for and through music for eight years. In 2015, their path will cross that of another equally singular duo: Curtis EFOUA, drummer-percussionist, winner of the Jazz de la Défense 2015 competition, and Ouriel ELLERT, bassist emeritus of the Parisian scene and collaborator notably with Sylvain Luc and another great harmonica player, Olivier Ker Ourio. They adapt their playing with such finesse and agility that one would forget the absence of a harmonic instrument. They all compose for the project, each with their own influences. A deliciously spicy jazz repertoire to be discovered in a first album No Man's Land.
