Jim Black is one of the most prolific drummers on the New York scene. His interest very quickly turned to avant-garde musicians (trumpet player Dave Douglas or saxophonists Tim Berne or Ellery Eskelin). A natural descendant of Joey Baron (John Zorn's regular drummer), Jim Black plays extreme dynamics and endlessly varies the timbres in a permanent firework display.

Alas No Axis is an essential band in today's jazz. It's powerful, wild, they built bridges between grunge rock and avant-garde improvisation in the early 2000s. Last year we presented "Human Feel".

This year, it's the turn of this other emblematic and long-time band to come and shake our ears!
