As part of the festival Jazz-Sur-Seine and the festival Les Caribéennes de Mai #15
New York at the dawn of the sixties. End of reign atmosphere for mambo. In its constant quest for new trends, the public succumbs to new sirens. It’s the explosion of boogaloo, between rhythm and blues and Latin rhythms, sung in English, and above all much easier to dance. Soul Latin makes a bang bang on the dance floors and unites audiences. The big bands, in the forefront of which those of Machito, Tito Puente, Tito Rodríguez, are about to bow out, and with them the legendary dance hall Le Paladium. A new generation is ready to take over. Their names are Cal Tjader, Ray Barreto, Mongo Santamaria, Charlie and Eddie Palmieri. Afro-Cuban jazz is now Latin. Soon these movements will themselves be pushed towards the exit by a new revolution called salsa.
A seasoned rhythm that, no doubt, will set this Monday Jam Session on fire !!
