At the Baiser Salé, we take advantage of the summer to spend free and festive musical evenings at the Estival de Jam Festival, from July 17 to September 2, 2021, every evening from 9:00 p.m. More than a simple concert, the jam is an opportunity to discover outstanding musicians, to see them having fun improvising together. It is the feeling of participating in a unique moment. One hour of concert lays the foundations and launches the theme of the evening in homage to an artist then a jam takes us until the end of the night.
Since the 1960s, pianist and composer McCoy Tyner has embodied one of the main directions of modern jazz, first forged in the legendary quartet of John Coltrane and then at the head of his own groups. An innovator comparable in his historical importance to Bill Evans and Cecil Taylor, he joined the first and greatly exceeded the second in his influence and influence.
To pay tribute to him, François Constantin invites the Franco-Australian Daniel Gassin, finalist of the Montreux International Piano Jazz Competition, intrepid improviser; drummer Damien Françon and double bassist Rémi Vignolo, extraordinary personality, exceptional musician, he accompanied the greatest (Nougaro, Michel Legrand, Richard Galliano, Sylvain Luc, Stefano Di Battista, John Mc Laughlin, Louis Winsberg, Jacky Terasson, André Ceccarelli… and knew how to go from drums to double bass with brio.
A concert set and two sets of improvised musical encounters: the most convivial way to make music!
