Jam Session Tribute To Lyle Mays
#LaJamDeTOUSLesJazz with FRANCOIS CONSTANTIN
Pianist, composer and arranger, Lyle Mays passed away on February 10, 2020 at the age of 66. In 1975, he met Pat Metheny at the Wichita (Kansas) festival and became his alter ego. They founded together the Pat Metheny Group and this association will last 33 years with 11 Grammy Awards at stake. He co-signs with the guitarist a considerable number of compositions for the prestigious ECM label. Lyle Mays was a virtuoso pianist but full of nuances. A game was imbued with romance, space and color ... "For over 30 years, every moment we shared in music was special. From the first notes we played together, we had an immediate bond." (Pat Metheny)
Gregory Ott, melodious pianist, influenced by the music of Michel Pettrucciani; Kevin Reveyrand, bass player in high demand on the international scene, from Asa to Christopher Cross via Charles Aznavour or Eric Seva or Olivier Ker Ourio… and Jon Grandcamp who testifies to an instinctive and flamboyant subjectivity. A colorful game, very influenced by African music and rhythms. A drum language dictated by percussion, influenced by his numerous concerts alongside Sandra N'Kaké, Emma Lamadji, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Fatoumata Diawara, Blick Bassy ... the game of "papas" as he calls them Mokthar Samba, Paco Sery ...
In short, a 4-star line-up, used to the Baiser Salé jam sessions with which we will have to rub shoulders!
