Al Cantu is a narrative project within a musical project. No voices, however, but four jazz musicians united in a quest borrowed from other musical genres: the search for a common sound - a common voice. What does this voice say? It speaks to everyone. It speaks of memories, it tells of landscapes, characters, atmospheres. Al Cantu's pictorial music sometimes seems to go back to the origins of jazz, to the time when only the cabarets of New Orleans ensured the meeting of music with various influences from classical and blues. That time has passed, however, and it is instead in an open world, shaken by exchanges and influences, that Al Cantu takes up the challenge of finding his own way, an authentic voice, which sounds familiar to everyone.
