"At the crossroads of jazz and gwoka, the drummer and percussionist punctuates the palpitations of the traditional Guadeloupean drum with echoes of soul, electro and various samples. Two saxophonists (Thomas Koenig and Raphaël Philibert) join this quartet in fusion (...)", Télérama
Melodic and rhythmic depth and gwo ka/jazz fusion are on the agenda. With "reflets denses", we recognize the jazz that has accompanied Sonny since he was a child: Max Roach, Art Blakey and those with whom he has exchanged, like Kenny Garrett and Lisa Simone. His arrival in Paris at the turn of the century plunged him into funk, R&B, electro and metal. All this resonates in his productions: an artistic mix, a trip sprinkled with samples and quotations that question his identity. Of Brazilian origin and jazz globetrotter, Leonardo Montana is certainly one of the most appreciated French pianists (Felipé Cabrera, Naissam Jalal, Anne Pacéo, Omara Portuando...) because of the finesse, rhythm and lyricism of his playing. A musician with multiple influences and eclectic tastes, Mike Armoogum has notably performed alongside Jerry Leonide, Boney Fields or Tino Gonzales and Andy Bérald within Christophe Dal Sasso's Big Band or with Jacques Schwarz-Bart.
