Thierry Maillard is an avant-garde artist with a boundless modernity and an immense musical curiosity. His compositions are very well thought out and have a very "signed" style, born of his love for music in general.
The "moog project" is a tribute that Thierry Maillard wanted to pay to the 1970's period with artists who used analogical music at the forefront, with bands like Mahavishnu Orchestra, Joe Zawinul, Georges Duke...As well as bands like Supertramp, so much these artists of genius, with their extraordinary creativity, could be inspiring for him.
This project is an important point of his writing work for more than 30 years, with a unique trio as 2 pianists and 1 drummer: 1 acoustic piano, 1 fender Rhodes and 1 Wurlitzer and analog keyboards carried by the rhythmic power of Yoann Schmidt on drums. After 35 years of career as a pianist, composer and orchestrator, Thierry Maillard has built his work around a major axis which is dear to him and intrinsic to his training as a musician: the mixture of jazz and classical music.
His influences are diverse and varied, the lyricism and romanticism of classical music of course, the rhythmic strength of jazz rock, the audacity of contemporary music, the elegance and swing of the golden age of jazz. An obvious passion for the world of the analogical instruments of the 70's mixed with the acoustics of the piano and the drums.
