American pianist and composer Emmet Cohen is one of the prominent figures of the New York scene. Recognized by his peers for his ” measured and agile touch, his warm harmonic vocabulary » (Downbeat), he is also wonderfully at ease on stage, very quickly forging bonds of complicity with the public and other musicians.
Spearhead of the current New York jazz scene, his notoriety has really exploded with “Live From Emmet’s Place” : a series of live videos from his apartment with prestigious guests (Joe Magnarelli, Joe Lovano, Veronica Swift, Cyrille Aimée, Christian McBride…) totaling nearly 8 million views on YouTube and many more on social networks.
When not with his threesome, Emmet Cohen regularly appears alongside Ron Carter, Benny Golson, George Coleman, Jimmy Heath, Tootie Heath, Houston Person, Kurt Elling, Billy Hart, Brian Lynch, and Lea DeLaria. He is also a member of Christian McBride’s “Tip City” trio and accompanies Veronica Swift.
