André Da Silva Quartet

Choro is considered the first form of Brazilian urban instrumental music (in Rio since the 1880s). This music is the result of centuries of crossbreeding between Brazil, Africa and Europe.
André Da Silva's Quartet proposes a music rooted in the traditions of Choro while mixing idiomatic aspects of Jazz. 
The result is a music deeply mixed between jazz and Brazilian popular music. 
The compositions draw from the richness of Brazilian rhythms: Ijexá, Maracatú, Samba, Baião... The quartet proposes rereadings of great contemporary and traditional composers (Arismar do Espirito Santo, Hermeto Pascoal, Jacob do Bandolim, Pixinguinha...)
