“Endowed with divine charisma and technique” (All About Jazz, USA), jazz singer Hetty Kate has “a stage presence matched only by the clarity of her voice” (James Morrison, Australia). Having grown up in England and Australia, and now living in France, Hetty has released 9 albums and graced small to big stages with her presence, from New Zealand to New York. “She really is one of the best swing-style singers (I'm talking about the 1940s, Benny Goodman's 4/4 swing style) on the scene today. » Will Friedwald: Jazz Critic & Author (USA) Hetty is a charming, authentic artist, and you recognize her at first sight. She knows how to swing, and she is applauded by musicians and her audience for her naturally melodious voice. Thanks to her classical training, Hetty's approach respects the composer by staying true to melody and text, and she uses her improvisational skills in a way that never strays from the story of her songs. It was this rare gift that allowed him to attract the attention of major record labels and artists in Australia and Europe, which led to a long professional relationship with legendary Australian trumpeter James Morrison, of the performances with the great classical pianist Simon Tedeschi (Australia), The Amazing Keystone Big Band (France) as well as ABC Jazz / Universal Music. “Hetty approaches the songs in a very fair way. She sings with an easy confidence that is contagious. Joseph Lang: Jersey Jazz Magazine (USA)

Hetty has sung at a multitude of famous jazz festivals around the world including the New York Winter Jazz Festival (USA), Sapporo International Jazz Festival (Japan), Ascona Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Piacenza Jazz Festival (Italy) , Prague Proms (Czech Republic), the International Jazz Festival in New Zealand, and the Jazz en Touraine and Sancy Snow Jazz festivals for the French. She is also regularly invited to several festivals in Australia. Touring with James Morrison's bands for over four years is one of the most defining moments of his career. During this period, Hetty sang as a soloist at her symphony concert “The A to Z of Jazz” with the Melbourne, Sydney, Tasmania and Western Australia Symphony Orchestras as well as the Philharmonic Orchestras of Christchurch, Auckland and Hong Kong, and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra at the 2016 Prague Proms. These concerts saw the birth of a live recording, “A to Z of Jazz”: James Morrison, Ben Northey, Hetty Kate and the Orchestra Melbourne Symphony (ABC Jazz) which won the coveted “Bell Award” at the Australian National Jazz Awards in 2015. An accomplished entertainer, Hetty Kate played the lead role of Hollywood actress Ava Gardner in Erin McCusker's original musical titled "Ava at the End of the World" in Melbourne. She recently joined French group Keystone Big Band (Victoire du Jazz 2018) for their West Side Story concert as Maria. For Hetty, sharing the pleasure of storytelling and song is vital, which is why in Australia, she has been playing for three years at the prestigious Melbourne Recital Center for the “Share The Music” project. It is an exceptional initiative that aims to cultivate a love of music among the inhabitants of Victoria (Australia) who cannot afford to attend the live musical performances of the Recital Centre.
